Last week, I sat down with Clayton Echard, best known for his journey as Season 26's Bachelor. Clayton is an author and mental health advocate, and he shared his experiences with mindfulness, his struggles with weight, and body dysmorphia.

Clayton opened up about how he felt insecure about his body and almost opted for liposuction. He also shared with me how journaling and communication have been crucial in his journey toward self-acceptance. On mindfulness, he said, β€œHalf the time when I was playing football or when I was The Bachelor, I was just present at the moment, but I kind of blacked out mentally, like I was just there, right? Reacting, didn't have time to analyze everything. So, I didn't know what all was occurring.” (45:27)

Practice mindfulness: Set aside 5 minutes each day to focus on your breath. Here’s a link to the largest free library of wellbeing content to get you started. If you want something even quicker, try the breathing techniques here.Β 

Journal regularly: Start with just 10 minutes a day, jotting down thoughts, feelings, or even doodles. Make it a routine to reflect on your day.

Communicate openly: Reach out to a friend, family member, or therapist and share your thoughts. Try setting up regular check-ins to foster ongoing support.
